Disclaimer

PlainRight provides free calculators and plain-English guides about UK employment law and statutory entitlements. This page sets out clearly what PlainRight is and is not.

This website does not provide legal or financial advice.

Nothing on this website, including any calculator result, explainer article, FAQ answer, or other content, constitutes legal or financial advice or creates a solicitor-client relationship of any kind. The information is provided for general guidance only. Every employment situation is different. Before making or relying on any decision that affects your rights or your employees' rights, you should seek independent legal advice from a qualified solicitor.

Statutory figures may be out of date.

UK employment law changes regularly. Statutory rates, weekly pay caps, and entitlement thresholds are set by Parliament and updated, typically in April each year, by statutory instrument. Although PlainRight works to keep figures current, we cannot guarantee that every figure is up to date at the moment you use this site. Always verify current figures at GOV.UK or ACAS before relying on them for any formal purpose (including tribunal claims, settlement negotiations, redundancy programmes, payroll processing, or legal correspondence).

Calculator results are estimates based on the information you enter.

PlainRight's calculators apply the statutory formula to the details you provide. The accuracy of any result depends entirely on the accuracy of what you enter. Results assume that you are calculating the statutory minimum entitlement. Contractual entitlements (terms in your employment contract or your employer's policy) may be more generous than the statutory minimum, and are not reflected in any calculator result unless you enter them manually. If you are uncertain what your contractual terms say, check your contract or seek advice.
