Accessibility Statement

This statement covers the website plainright.co.uk. It was prepared on 6 June 2026.

Our commitment

PlainRight aims to be accessible to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities, those using screen readers or keyboard navigation, and people accessing the site on a wide range of devices and connection speeds.

We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. We have not yet completed a full, independent accessibility audit. This statement reflects our current, honest position: we do not claim conformance we cannot verify.

What we have done

We have designed PlainRight with the following accessibility considerations in mind:

  • Semantic HTML structure: pages use heading levels, landmark elements, and form labels in a way intended to work with screen readers.
  • Keyboard navigation: calculators and interactive elements aim to be operable without a mouse.
  • Colour contrast: we have aimed for a minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio for body text and 3:1 for large text, in line with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
  • Responsive design: the site adapts to screen sizes from small mobile to large desktop.
  • Plain language: we write at a reading level accessible to most adults, using short sentences and clear structure.
  • No time limits: no calculator or page has a time limit that would disadvantage slower readers.

Known limitations

  • Automated accessibility testing is planned but not yet complete. A Lighthouse and dedicated a11y audit is deferred to the Phase 5 deploy stage. We are not aware of critical failures, but we cannot rule out issues we have not yet detected.
  • Third-party content: advertisements served by Google AdSense and cookie consent UI provided by our CMP (CookieYes) are third-party components. We do not control their accessibility and cannot guarantee they meet WCAG standards.
  • PDF or downloadable documents: we do not currently provide any downloads. If this changes, we will assess each document.

Disproportionate burden

We have not made any formal claim of disproportionate burden under the Public Sector Bodies Accessibility Regulations. PlainRight is operated as a small private-sector site and those regulations do not apply, but we use the same standard as a benchmark.

How to report an accessibility problem

If you experience an accessibility barrier on PlainRight, please tell us:

Email: contactplainright@gmail.com
Subject line: “Accessibility issue: PlainRight”

Please describe:

  • The page or calculator affected
  • The barrier you encountered
  • The device, browser, or assistive technology you were using

We aim to respond within 5 working days.

What we will do next

A dedicated Lighthouse/a11y audit is planned as part of our Phase 5 pre-deploy checklist. We will update this statement following that audit and address any issues it identifies. We will also update the statement if we make significant changes to the site that affect accessibility.

Technical information

Enforcement

The Equality Act 2010 requires that we make reasonable adjustments to ensure our website does not put disabled people at a substantial disadvantage.
